New Year's Resolutions

Getting older is exciting and sucks at the same time. It seems as if 2005 just started and now it's ending. What's worse, my mind has no comprehension of time. I still have to think hard when someone asks me what date it is which is hard when you have to think about what year it is currently.

When I was younger, I was raised in a religion that taught us the world was going to end SOON. They promised us young kids that planning for the future is moot because we would not get to be adults in this world which was ruled by the Prince of Darkness. Wow! If I had still taken that advice to heart instead of dropping out over 18 years ago, I could only imagine how different my life would be now.

The moral of the story I am trying to tell you is to stop worrying about what may or may not happen tomorrow as right now is the only moment over which you have any control. It is nice to have hopes and dreams and to plan for the future, but you also have to roll with whatever changes life throws out at you. You can't go around living in fear or you lose out a lot of life experience.

This brings me to the tradition of New Year's Resolutions where everyone likes to make promises they most likely will never keep in the next year when the going gets tough. Unless you have mentally prepared yourself for such goals and you want it more than anything going on in your life, that resolve will dissolve the moment something more pressing interferes with your plans.

There are so many things I want to do and experience, but there's no way I am going to set myself up for a disappointing fall. When such things become buring desires, then I will acheive and surpasss those goals. Until then, life goes on in the manner I enjoy it most.

I still plan to continue to write stories. I still plan to keep up with my web sites while I keep learning more and more about JavaScripts, cgi, and other helpful hints to make my sites more interesting. I plan on keeping the crusades going to fight on behalf of things I believe in, no matter how unpopular.

As for my personal life. I plan to give my family as much love as I am able and do as much as I can for them.

Sure, it would be nice to lose a lot of weight, get nice clothes, make a lot of money, travel the world, make new friends, start a daily exercise routine and so forth, but some things are just not as pressing to acheive right now. So much has happened in 2005 it is hard to wrap my head around to sort out what else, other than my family and my beliefs, would be the most important goal to acheive.

As for all you wonderful people who make it to see my blog, I hope you know I do appreciate you. Have a great new year and play safe tonight.
