Pat Robertson Needs To Retire

  • 9/11 was God's way of punishing America's gays, liberals, and feminist females.
  • People with Tourette's Syndrome are under demonic possession.
  • "We have the ability to take him out, and I think the time has come that we exercise that ability," in reference to President Chavez' comments about the US government's attempts to assassinate him.
  • Robertson made suggestions that the explosion of a nuclear weapon at State Department Headquarters would be good for the country.
  • He agreed with sentiments that judges were fair game for violence and murder.

These are among many of the stupid comments and assertions made by Pat Robertson. I do not doubt that his comment which advocated assassination of someone was done out of frustration, but he is also a very public figure with a large audience and has a responsibilty towards them. Such comments do them no service.

As a man of the cloth, one who gets tax breaks because of his call of duty, he should not be so heavily involved in politics. Religion should not try to influence the decisions of the government which is why the First Amendment made it clear that the government was not to favour a religion of the state which is what Robertson and his people are trying to do within the government. People like Robertson and to the Left, Jesse Jackson, should choose one side or the other -- religion or politics.

As a citizen, Robertson has the right to any opinion and to voice it. As a public figure and head of his own media center, he has a responsibility to report his "news" in a fair manner. He is the ultimate pre-curser to Fox News.

He and Jerry Falwell are both getting up there in age. Jesse Jackson, too. It is time for them to go back to their calling and stand up in the pulpit to preach which is what they do best. It is also time for them to get out of the political spotlight. They do not have the pulse of America and they do not have the moral authority over everyone in the land. Not all Americans are Christians and not all Christians are Evangelical or Baptist. Stop trying to give all Americans and all Christians a bad name. You people are an embarassment.

You are right that he gives all Christians a bad name. He's violating one of the 10 commandments.

Something about TV causes relgious people to go bad. Maybe the fame causes corruption of thoughts (all of the health/wealth preaching) or actions (Pat Robertson, Jim Bakker, etc).

Thanks for commenting on my blog also! Come visit NW Indiana sometime.
